By using ShakespeareanTranslator.com (“the site”), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
The service. We provide free language tools — including translators between modern English and historical forms of English, word explanations, and learning games — with no account, signup, or payment required. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time.
What the tools are. Our translators are automated aids. They render historical-style vocabulary and phrases to help you read, learn, and play with the language. They are not scholarly translations, and output should not be relied on where accuracy matters — for example, in academic work, verify important quotations against a critical edition.
Intellectual property. Shakespeare’s own writing is in the public domain; where we quote it, we identify the source. Our original explanations, guides, and site content are our work — you may quote brief excerpts with attribution and a link back. Text newly generated by our tools (for example, invented insults) is free for your personal, non-commercial use; please do not present generated text as Shakespeare’s writing.
Acceptable use. You agree not to misuse the site: no attempts to disrupt the service, no scraping at abusive rates, no unlawful or harmful use of the tools. We may block access that abuses the service.
No warranties. The site and tools are provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that translations are error-free or that the site will be available without interruption.
Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) the site.
Changes. We may update these terms; continued use of the site after changes means you accept them.
